DIY: Cottage Pie.

Hello everyone. So it's December and we all love to eat warm foods that are super tasty! One of my go to meals is Cottage Pie! It is my favourite and it's so easy to do!

Ingredients:

- 1 large onion (this is optional or you can have as many onions as you like)
- 1/2 a pound of mince (I got mine from the Butchers but you can get mince anywhere, again the amount you want depends on how big you are having it.)
- Gravy (Again I got this from the butchers but you might want a litre but it depends on the portion)
- A bag of potatoes.
- Cheddar Cheese.
- Half a cup of milk
- Butter

Method:

1. Get all your equipment and ingredients and put them on a table or work surface.

2. Peel your potatoes and put them in a pan.

3. Put the pan on the hob but don't turn it on yet.

4. Grate your cheese and put into a bowl for later and then put it in the fridge.

5. Chop your onion or onions and put them into a bowl and keep them on the side.

6. Get your mince and put it into a pan with a little bit of fat or lard.

7. Once your mince is cooked, turn on the pan for the potatoes and keep on a high heat until the water has boiled.

8. Turn down your mince and cook your onions in a separate pan with a little bit of butter.

9. Once your onions have been cooked in butter add them to your mince.

10. Then add your gravy and stir in well.

11. After 20 minutes, check that your potatoes are cooked, if not leave on until they are.

12. Once cooked, drain the water out and put to the side.

13. Preheat oven to 180°C.

14. Get a masher and mash your potatoes.

15. Once mashed add 250g of butter and keep mashing.

16. Heat your half a cup of milk in the microwave for 2 minutes and then add into the potatoes.

17. Keep mashing until it is creamy and there are no lumps.

18. Add your mince, onions and gravy into the dish you are putting into the oven.

19. Then get a spoon and spread the mash evenly.

20. Get the cheese out of the fridge and sprinkle on top.

21. Put in the oven and wait till the cheese has melted.

22. Once the cheese has melted, take out the oven and eat.

Bon appetite!
