DIY: Milk and white chocolate cookies.

Hello everyone. Today's post is another DIY and it's a recipe on how to make milk and white chocolate cookies. They are really straight forward and are something quick but delicious to make. Now I know most of us would agree that we have eaten far too much over the festive period and me posting about chocolate cookies probably isn't the best but I'm not saying you have to do them but I wanted to share the recipe just in case any of you do decide to make them because then you can tweet me (@imcalledmeg_) I'd love to see them! Anyway onto the recipe!

Ingredients/Equipment:

- Scales
- Wooden Spoon
- 200g Butter (room temperature)
- 300g Caster Sugar
- 1 large egg
- 325g Self Raising Flour
- Dash of Milk
- 200g of milk chocolate
- 200g of white chocolate
- 2 trays with greaseproof paper or foil
- Whisk
- Bowl

Method:

1. Preheat Oven to 200°C.
2. Measure out your ingredients.
2. Mix together the butter and sugar with a whisk.
3.  Crack the egg and mix that into the butter and sugar.
4. Gradually add in the self raising flour and whisk.
5. If the mixture is dry, add a dash of milk.
6. Break up the chocolate and mix it into the mixture.
7. Grab a hand full of mixture and put it onto the tray.
8. Put them in the oven.
9. Leave them in for 10 minutes.
10. Leave them to cool for 20-30 minutes.
11. Enjoy!

As you can see from the image above. I like to put a big hand full onto the trays because I love to eat big cookies, however you can put as much or as less mixture onto the tray as you wish.

When they came out the oven. As you can see if the cookies aren't spaced out enough they will go into each other but for me that isn't too much of a problem because once they are cool you can just get a knife and separate them.

More cookies that have gone into each other but don't panic! Just let them cool and then separate them with a knife!

Massive cookies on a plate! They smell and taste delicious!

I hope you've enjoyed me sharing this recipe with you! Do let me know if you make some!

What I've Won #4.

Hello everyone. So you may have seen in my 'Coming Soon to The Perks Of Meg' post that this post was going live today. Indeed it is. If you want to find out what else is going to be on my blog this mont, you can see a sneak peek from my 'Coming Soon to The Perks Of Meg' post which you can read here.

So onto today's post. As you can tell by the title, this is another What I've Won post and I have to give it to you, I have been extremely lucky. You may have seen my long overdue 'What I Won' post at the end of December last year. If you want a read, then feel free to click here. Well last month I was lucky enough to win a twitter giveaway which Bourjois held.

I was just casually at school and a few days before I had RTed the tweet which was the giveaway, I never expected to win! There would be 5 winners and I just happened to be one of them. I remember when the notification came through to my phone and I just sat there so shocked and I just couldn't believe I'd won. I emailed Bourjois my address and within 2 days my prizes had arrived. For this giveaway in particular Bourjois had teamed up with Tangleteezer and that is why it is in this post.

I firstly want to talk about my Tangleteezer that I won because although these have been going around the blogosphere for so long, I have never had the urge to buy one. I always thought a hair brush was a hair brush and in all honestly, I thought they were quite overpriced. However now that I have one and that I've used it. I can happily say that I would buy another. I received the compact styler which is perfect for me. I can just throw it in my back and get it out on the go and it's just the perfect size. My hair feels really silky once I have used it and it's just a dream. I feel stupid that I have never been into the 'hype'. You may have seen me write before that I'm not a 'hype' girl and I'm really not. I prefer not to go with the 'hype' and sometimes I really should because I miss out on some really good products.

Now onto the Bourjois products...

So the first Bourjois product that I am going to be talking about is the Bourjois Mega Liner which is in ultra black and is supposed to last 24 hours. It is really similar to my Collection 24 hour extreme felt tip liner, in the respect that it is black and is a felt tip. This nib that the Bourjois Mega Liner is really clever as you can either create big lines or thin lines, depending on the look what you are going for. I really like this product and can't wait to use it. By swatching it on my hand, it gave me an indication on how it will be on the eye and it glides effortlessly which is great. This product retails for £7.49.

The next make up item I got was the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in the shade 05 Red Island, which is a gorgeous red shade. I'd say it's quite a pinky red but it is a lovely red that I would be confident to wear on a daily basis. The formula of this crayon is great, it is so glossy and it glides onto the lips. It has good colour pay off. At first it is quite moisturising on the lips but I did find that after wearing it for 2 hours my lip became quite dry. Overall, it is one of the nicest lip crayons I have tried. The Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons retail for £7.99.

The last products I won, were these Bourjois 1 Seconde Gel nail polishes. I got a lovely red shade called Rouge In Style (11) and I got a top coat which was in 45 Glitterizer and this was a silver leaf effect. These nail polishes dry so quickly. I wouldn't say they dry in 1 second but they do dry pretty fast. The gel formula is so sleek and it's just great. I love the silver leaf effect too and combined together they would look lovely. I'm not sure if these are limited edition for Christmas or discontinued or something but I can't seem to find these shades. The Bourjois 1 Seconde nail polishes retail for £5.99.

I hope you've enjoyed this post, it has been more of a 'What I Won' post but with a review too.

Have you tried any of these products and what do you think?

Blogging Thank You's.

On the 15th January which is in a weeks time, I will have been writing this blog for 1 whole year. For me, this is a real achievement and it is such a weird thought that on the 15th January 2014 I decided I wanted to start a blog and that's what I did. I never thought a 'hobby' would be such a great experience? It has changed how I view things in life and I'm just so grateful. So I thought I would say a few thank yous.

I was inspired to do this post by Thumbelina Lillie.

My first thank you is to my brain. Without my brain an idea of making this blog would never have happened. It has also helped me write blog posts along the way.

My second thank you goes to the Brands and PR Companies who have kindly given me a chance to work with them. Some of the opportunities I have had since blogging has been truly amazing and I'm so grateful to all of them for their generosity and have given me the ability and confidence to help my blog grow.

My third thank you is to social media, even though I don't use it as much as I used to - I still love to connect with fellow bloggers through the chats and it is just lovely how I have made so many new friends through it. So although it's slightly weird to thank social media, that is exactly what I am doing.

My fourth thank you is to the blogging community. You all welcomed me so well into it, a year a go and I have made some lovely new friends. I love to communicate with everyone in the blogging community. You always find a solution to everything by asking someone. You even find out things to splurge out on, sorry bank balance!

My fifth and final thank you is to You! Everyone that reads my tiny world on the internet that is my blog. I know that most of my readers are international, worldwide and it makes me so happy that someone is interested in me writing about something or someone that I love. I know it sounds stupid, but even when I come to write a new post and I see a notification and when I find out that it's one of you, one of you has taken the time to write me a lovely comment about what I have written. It honestly makes my day! I truly love all of you who reads my blog, as this is my hobby and I never thought I'd love a hobby as much as I do my blog.

So in a weeks time, we can celebrate my little blog; The Perks Of Meg, reaching it's 1st blogiversary and let's hope it will have blogiversaries in many years to come!

Thank you all for reading this post and do let me know if you would like to see anything in particular on my blog.

#TakeBackWhatsYours Campaign.

Hello everyone. Today's post is something a little bit different and something I wouldn't normally post about. However I like to help all people and I am really behind this idea. I was contacted by a fellow Blogger Chloe who runs the blog Chloe's Concept and I really wanted to help her with her campaign. Her campaign has been going on for several months now and I feel that we should really spread the word.

Chloe wants us to change the way we see New Year Resolutions and so that we as people can benefit our whole life from them not just a couple of days.

Many people start the year by saying 'new year, new me' and I don't feel that this is what we should be saying. My new year resolutions which you can read about here. Yes, they are mainly targeted towards my blog and other achievements that I hope to achieve but some of them are to do with my well being and something that affects me on a day to day basis.

Chloe wants us to influence not just ourselves but other people to make a resolution to take back what they once had and belonged to them. For instance, it could be that a person wants to gain their confidence back, it might be that they want to gain happiness and it might be that they want to feel happy within themselves and not have to worry all the time. Sometimes these resolutions may take longer to solve but when they are, it will be an amazing achievement.

Chloe has so much belief and motivation in how we can change the world - it might seem cheesy but it is quite inspirational really. As individuals we change how people are impacted in daily life by bullying; (if you want to read my bullying story I will link it here), lack of self- esteem, confidence, anxiety, diabetes, depression and many more things that impact us in day to day life. What doesn't happen to you, might happen to someone else.

Chloe hopes that this campaign will challenge people and will be spread far and wide across the internet. This is why I am wanting to do this challenge. I feel that by taking part, even if it isn't making a big impact, it still is making a change.

My Take Back What's Yours New Year Resolution is to get my confidence back and to not get as worried and stressed over little things.

I would like to tag 10 fellow bloggers:

If you would like to get involved in this campaign just like I did then please:

- Write a blog post talking about this campaign and the message it contains and why you are taking part.

- Tell people what your 'What Take Back What's Yours' - New Year Resolution is that you are going to set yourself.

- Tag 10 bloggers to take part.

- Let Chloe know if you're taking part by tweeting her at @ChloesConcept

- And if you can - include a photo of yourself with a handmade poster (Doesn't have to be artistic) with the words:

"TAKE BACK WHAT'S YOURS" -
MAKE YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION TO TAKE BACK WHAT BELONGS TO YOU.
#TakeBackWhatsYours
In 2015, I'm taking back: *i.e, "my confidence"

Now let's spread the word, thanks for reading!

Every month if this is something you would want, I can do a 'Coming Soon' post which gives you a sneak peak of what is to come in the month. *Cosme-de.com Review.

Hello everyone. So as you may be able to tell by today's title I have another review for you. Today I am going to be talking about not only a product but mainly I am going to be focusing on a company. The company I am reviewing is Cosme-de.com and it is an online shopping site for China and worldwide for skincare and cosmetic products. Cosme-de.com is developed by Cosme De Net as an expansion of its core business.

Cosme-de.com are a lovely business and have a great customer service. When I was being emailed, Guillermo who I was speaking to was very informative and was extremely kind. So thank you Guillermo. I had great communication with this company to make sure that I had received my product. I had been asked to review a fragrance from their website, which I was thrilled about.

Cosme-de.com have great deals for some products that are more expensive elsewhere. I would highly recommend their service. I had a great shopping experience with them.

I didn't actually know what fragrance I was being sent however I had given a list of a few that I liked the look of. I felt that for this purpose it was great to have a surprise. But of course if you were to order from them then you would get the product you had paid for. This added to the excitement of me receiving my parcel.

Now sadly, I didn't take a photo of the packaging as it had my address on it. However I would like to inform you all, that the packaging was great. It was securely packaged with bubble wrap and other types of packaging that kept everything secure. I was very satisfied.

My fragrance arrived once I had taken it out of the packaging in this lovely red bag, I'm not sure whether this was just for Christmas but it was a lovely edition. I actually put this under my Christmas tree and it looked really nice. Once I had opened the bag up, my perfume was in it's cellophane.

I was so excited to see that I had been sent a Gucci perfume and this is Flora.I received the 30ml.The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and is very smart.

The bottle is so beautiful and I liked how on the lid it said Gucci. For some people this fragrance will be totally normal for them but for me it is a luxury.

Everything about this perfume is lovely and it has such a lovely floral scent as the name would suggest.

I would highly recommend the service of cosme-de.com as they provide such a great online shopping experience and I am so happy. Cosme-de.com have fragrances from all different brands, along with make up and skincare products. They have Benefit, Chanel, Shisedo, Clarins and many, many more.

I would also recommend you trying Flora by Gucci as it is a gorgeous scent, if you are in duty free or a perfume shop any time soon, have a squirt!

I would like to thank Cosme-de.com for letting me review their services but for also providing me with a luxurious product.

Thanks for reading this post, have you ever tried Cosme-de.com?

New Year For ThePerksOfMeg.

Hello everyone. As suggested by the date I am posting this and by the title, it is a new year. That doesn't mean I'm going to be a new me or this is going to be a new blog, it just means me and my blog have reached another year, which is so, so exciting. I must firstly apologise for not using my own images to start off the year however I've been poorly and haven't had a chance to take some new photos but I promise that this year there will only be odd occasions where I use images from the internet.

This year I am planning some really special things for me and my blog and let's not forget on the 15th January it will be The Perks Of Meg's 1st Blog Birthday, which of course excites me just a tad.

I have a few projects under way and I can't wait to share them with you all. 2015 is going to be a great year and although it's going to be hectic because it is my last year in school and although I'd like to forget about it, I can't. At times blogging will be tough because I will be up to my neck in coursework and deadlines and revision but fear not, I will still blog. It will just be a little less for that period of stressfulness.

I've been sat thinking about all the great posts I could have up on my blog and although I have lots of ideas, I still need to know what you as readers want. Now it might be 1am while I am writing this, oh yes it is. However I still have some New Year Resolutions to share with you all. How thrilling.

So here are my 5 New Year Resolutions:

1. I want to get better with my photography for my blog, being the actual photo quality and editing.

2. I want to gain more confidence and feel at ease instead of stressed all the time over the silliest things.

3. I want to hopefully have reached 50,000 pageviews on my blog. That is such a lot, for me, personally. It would be a huge achievement and I feel that I can do this. If I can get  25,000 in my first year then I can get another 25,000 in my second year and that will be incredible. Anything over this, well is a bonus and I will be thrilled. Although it's not all about numbers and views etc, those pageviews at least tell me that someone is reading my blog and therefore I am very thankful indeed.

4. I want to be friends with even more bloggers and get involved in the community even more this year.

5. I want to have passed all my GCSE's at least at a C grade.

So as you can probably tell by my 5 resolutions they are more achievements and goals rather than something I am going to change however all of these things will impact my life in some way. I do find making new years resolutions up, very difficult. But, I have done it. Yay me.

So what are your new year resolutions and most importantly what would you like to see on The Perks Of Meg in 2015? Leave your suggestions in the comments please!

My 2014 skincare favourites/discoveries.

Hello everyone. So I know most people are doing a general 2014 favourites and I was going to do it but in all honesty, I don't feel as though I have any favourite 2014 make up discoveries at this moment therefore I've decided that if I do have any, I will put them into a post next year at some point. The category that has really stood out to me this year is skincare. I have found lots of new discoveries, that I can say I'd happily repurchase.

The first discovery I found this year was Lush's Love Lettuce fresh face mask. I bought this when I had my very first visit to Lush and it was a great product. If you want to read about my thoughts on it then you can read my review here, which I did back in March. Back in March my photos were tiny and so was my writing but this shows my learning curve of my blogging experience.

The next product I discovered was The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner and what I really like about this product is that it is travel size and travel friendly and people feel that 60ml isn't a lot but this has lasted me 6 months. This is great for when you are having a sensitive skin day or if you have sensitive skin in general. This product doesn't smell of anything but it is delicate on the skin. I also think the packaging is very simple. I really like this product.

The next discovery I found in 2014 is the Clinique rinse -off foaming cleanser. It is a great creamy cleanser that takes your make up off effortlessly and it makes your skin so soft. I will definitely be purchasing the full version of this product.

Again, I have another Clinique product that has been a favourite of mine and this is the liquid facial soap in mild. This is a great facial soap and you only need the tiniest amount for your whole face therefore it is great value for money. I have 3 tubes of this now in the sample size, so I have enough to last me. Even though I would purchase the full version of this product I do feel that because it is a facial soap there are cheaper alternatives.

The next product is a discovery that I got in September but I didn't really use it until October. It is the deep steep moisture stick and this is the honeydew-spearmint scent. In October my eczema was really bad. Now I know you probably shouldn't use this product near your eyes but my eczema is under my eyes and on my eyelids therefore I do use this product on those areas. I apply this product on my dry areas (eczema) and leave it on for 15 minutes and then I take it off and in 15 minutes those areas are now soft and supple rather than dry and flaky. It is a very quick fix when I need my skin to be at it's best for make up. I would really recommend this product to you if you have dry patches or dry skin.

The final skincare discovery/favourite of 2014 is the Soap and Glory Hand Food which has been a saviour this winter. It keeps my hands so soft and hydrated and it has really changed my opinion on using a hand cream. I will be doing a full review of this product on my blog in January 2015, so keep your eyes open for it. I also featured this big bottle in my 'What I won #3' post, which if you are interested you can read about it here.

So they are all my 2014 skincare favourites/discoveries, what are yours?

My favourite lipstick of 2014.

Hello everyone. I hope you've had a lovely December. December has not been the best month for me but I thought I would end it on a high by telling you all about some of my favourite products and the last Christmas posts that I have, so that 2015 will start with a bang! I am really excited about this new year and I have lots of things that I am looking forward to, including my blog's first blog birthday which is in January! On a side note before I talk about my favourite lipstick of 2014, I would like to wish my Grandad a happy birthday, he is 80 today and I will be spending my day with him!

Now onto the post, I was never really into lipsticks. They weren't thing I would go out and buy and feel excited over it, until this lipstick came into my life. Sorry to all you drugstore girls out there because this lipstick is high end and pricing up at £15.50.

I was actually lucky enough to win a giveaway a few months back, read about it here and I got to pick a MAC lipstick of my choice and I chose this one. I have never looked back since and that giveaway has definitely changed my mind and now I am much more willing to spend £15.50 on a lipstick.

MAC lipsticks in my opinion are very luxurious, Chatterbox which is an amplified lipstick is the shade I have. I haven't stopped wearing this lipstick, since I got it.

MAC's Amplified lipsticks give an opaque coverage, which are similar to the matte formula, but are less drying on the lips. They tend to last 3-4 hours which is great.

I do agree that they give a opaque coverage and at times they can be very drying, more in winter. However I love this shade. This shade is a "barbie" pink and it makes me feel very girly.

I also love the smell of MAC lipsticks, vanilla scented.

Please excuse my horrible nails on that above photo, they were due for a paint.

I find that this lipstick is very buildable on colour and is very natural. You could wear this during the day and night time and I feel this is another reason I love this lipstick so much. I am a neutral kind of girl so this is perfect.

What's your favourite lipstick from MAC? What is your favourite lipstick of 2014?

Thanks for reading, as always and have a great day!
